# Screvi Changelog - August 2026

> Send to Kindle, an AI assistant in the reader, Instagram posts and reels, a rebuilt support area, and a lot of fixes.

Hello, and welcome back to another Screvi update.

August was a month of things people asked for directly: sending to Kindle, an assistant inside the reader, a proper place to report bugs, and a long list of fixes that came straight from your reports. Thank you for all of them.

## Send to Kindle

You can now send EPUB books and articles from Screvi to your Kindle by email.

Go to the new Send to Kindle page under Integrations, enter your @kindle.com address, and approve Screvi's sender address in your Amazon account. From then on every article row, the reader toolbar, and any book with an EPUB file has a Send to Kindle action. Articles are converted to an EPUB with their images embedded, and they show up in your Kindle library under a "Screvi Articles" series so they stay together.

## AI Assistant in the Reader

Select a passage in the reader and the highlight menu now has an AI assistant. Explain, translate, or look up a word, then ask follow-up questions about the passage. Answers stream in as they are written. Select one or two words and it goes straight to the dictionary, since that is nearly always what you meant.

Two more reader changes shipped with it. Selections can now cross a page break in the book reader: hold at the edge of the page and it turns, keeping your selection going. And the highlights panel can sort by location or by date.

Both the web and mobile readers have the assistant.

## Instagram Posts and Reels

Instagram posts you share to Screvi now save as highlights, with the caption, the images, and the video right on the card. Reels get a "Get transcript" button: press it and Screvi transcribes the audio and folds it into the highlight, so what was said is searchable alongside what was written.

Shared reel links in the newer /reels/ format now work too. Previously they saved Instagram's login page as the article.

## A Better Way to Report Bugs and Ask for Features

The support area was rebuilt around how people actually use it.

- The feedback button now asks whether you want to report a bug or send feedback, and takes you to the right place. Bug reports get a proper form with reproduction steps and a thread you can follow.
- You can attach a photo or a short video to any report, request, or comment. Pasting a screenshot attaches it.
- The roadmap is a single ranked list instead of a board, with Open, Shipped, and Yours tabs, sorted by newest so fresh requests are not buried. There is a new Highlights category.
- A Yours page collects everything you filed or upvoted in one place.
- You can withdraw your own feature requests and bug reports.

## AI Assistants Can Now Tidy Your Library

The MCP server, which connects Claude and other assistants to your library, gained its first write tools in August: archive, favorite, or move articles to Later in bulk, fix a bad title, and re-fetch an article that saved badly. Write access is a separate permission you approve when connecting. Tags and notes also became available over MCP and the public API at the end of the month.

That was the start of a much bigger MCP release that landed this week. It has [its own post](/blog/screvi-mcp-and-public-api-september-2026).

## Other Improvements

**Reading and reviewing**

- **[ALL]** Search now works for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Searching for a word inside a sentence in those languages returned nothing before.
- **[ALL]** Articles imported from Readwise or Pocket that had been sitting blank now fetch their content the first time you open them. Emails forwarded to Readwise Reader, which have no page to fetch, can be filled from Readwise with your Readwise token.
- **[WEB]** The Read button on a source opens the reader whenever the source has an EPUB or PDF file.
- **[WEB]** Podcasts can be excluded from reviews and reminder emails under Advanced filters.
- **[WEB]** The review-reminder banner on Streaks can be dismissed.
- **[ALL]** Streaks follow your review cadence. A weekly reviewer now sees "2 reviews" instead of "2 days", on web, on mobile, and in reminder copy.
- **[MOBILE]** The streak calendar lists the highlights each review session resurfaced.
- **[WEB]** Turning on an article filter switches to the All tab, so filtered results are never hidden in another tab.
- **[WEB]** The RSS preview with its AI summary is now a button on each row instead of opening on hover.
- **[WEB]** Links inside highlights open in a new tab, so the feed keeps your place.
- **[ALL]** Book search falls back to Apple Books when Goodreads is down or returns few real covers, so the cover picker has usable images for more titles.
- **[ALL]** Onboarding topics were reworked: sixteen topics instead of twenty-four near-duplicates, with every sample highlight chosen by hand and checked against the book.

**Capture**

- **[EXTENSION]** Web highlights keep their hyperlinks. The extension is at 1.6.6.
- **[EXTENSION]** When a page cannot be fetched, the extension offers what it captured from the tab instead.
- **[MOBILE]** Sharing to Screvi with an expired subscription now says so, instead of looking like a network error.
- **[ALL]** Connecting Notion from the mobile app now completes instead of leaving the sheet open.

**Account and performance**

- **[WEB]** The app loads faster on a cold start: icons are bundled instead of fetched one by one, cover art is resized to the size it is shown at, and duplicate profile requests are gone.
- **[WEB]** Opening menus after scrolling a long feed no longer lags.
- **[WEB]** Navigating to a new page scrolls to the top; back and forward still restore your position.
- **[WEB]** Invite links opened directly in the app keep their attribution, and the referral copy now says what the invitee and the referrer actually get.
- **[WEB]** The pricing page has Lifetime back as a full column, and notes that one subscription works on every platform.
- **[WEB]** Uploading an avatar works on touch devices.
- **[WEB]** The MCP consent screen shows when a client is asking for write access.

## Bugfixes

- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where Instagram reel links in the /reels/ format saved Instagram's login page as the article.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where the streak calendar counted highlights that were never reviewed, inflating the day's total by about a third.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where the cover search could hang forever on "Searching for covers".
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where a note added to an article was not saved.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where the AI cleanup removed images from newsletters.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where some articles saved from HTML reported the wrong parse state.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where golem.de articles saved the consent wall instead of the article.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where highlight card titles were cut short even when there was room for them.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where the Sources count for All did not match what the All tab listed.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where the home tabs were slow to load and reading progress could fail to save.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where importing a large Kindle My Clippings file could stall the tab.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where the back button on the pricing page was missing for users without an active subscription.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where Obsidian and other tools using a scoped API key could not export highlights.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where opening an external link could fail silently.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where the highlight location in the reader was wrong after a page change.
