# Screvi Changelog - July 2026

> CarPlay for podcasts, automatic Kobo sync, and three new ways to import.

Hello, and welcome back to another Screvi update.

Thank you to everyone who wrote in this month. A lot of this month's fixes and improvements came straight from your feedback.

## CarPlay

You can now listen to your podcasts in the car. Plug in your iPhone and Screvi appears on the CarPlay screen with your recent episodes, the shows you follow and your downloads, plus skips, speed and chapter jumps.

There's also a bookmark button. Press it while an episode is playing and Screvi analyzes the last 30 seconds and saves the core of what you just heard as a highlight. How far it looks back will be configurable soon, by popular request.

Android Auto is also planned for the future.

## Automatic Kobo Sync (Beta)

Your Kobo highlights can now sync automatically over WiFi, with no manual export.

Go to the Kobo integration page, add a small file to your Kobo, and your highlights sync across on their own from then on.

This is in beta, so let me know if anything looks off.

## New Import Options

You can now import Apple Books straight from the browser, without installing anything. Drag two files from your Mac and Screvi does the rest.

Snipd is now available as an integration.

CSV files can now be imported and mapped directly, useful for any custom integrations you have.

There's also a new Import History under Integrations, showing every import in one place with what came in and what didn't.

## Other Improvements

**Reading and reviewing**

- **[WEB]** PDF books now use the same reader as EPUB: paginated pages, full-text search inside the book, zoom, a page thumbnail sidebar, and highlighting.
- **[MOBILE]** PDFs now open in a native reader, with text selection and highlighting.
- **[WEB]** Choose what to include when you export: particular books, tags, dates, favorites, or only highlights with notes. You can sort them too.
- **[WEB]** Set your review frequency to daily, every three days, or weekly. Streaks and consistency follow that setting, so reviewing weekly no longer breaks a streak.
- **[WEB]** Select any day in the streak calendar to see the highlights you reviewed that day.
- **[WEB]** RSS: group feeds into categories, import and export your subscriptions as OPML, and a new compact list view.
- **[WEB]** RSS feed previews can generate a summary of an article before you open it. Requires Chrome with its built-in AI model available.
- **[WEB]** Print any article, with options for images, links, byline and text size.
- **[WEB]** Podcast highlights play from the card, with 15-second skips and a seekable progress bar.
- **[WEB]** The book reader shows pages remaining in the current chapter.
- **[WEB]** Saving an article already in your library now opens it instead of creating a duplicate.
- **[WEB]** Manual highlights accept images and tags.
- **[WEB]** The shareable stats image can be generated in dark or light.
- **[WEB]** Book search suggests popular titles before you type.
- **[WEB]** New keyboard shortcuts guide, arrow-key navigation through feed and source cards, and "E" to edit during a review.
- **[WEB]** A new color picker for tags, with presets, a hue slider and hex input.
- **[ALL]** Maximum highlight length raised from 3,000 to 4,000 characters.
- **[MOBILE]** Podcast follows now sync across devices instead of staying on one phone.
- **[MOBILE]** Images in highlights open full size with pinch and zoom. Image-only highlights can be saved to your camera roll.
- **[MOBILE]** Delete a source directly from its own screen.
- **[MOBILE]** Articles open full screen, with the tab bar hidden while reading.
- **[MOBILE]** Active filters appear as chips you can dismiss individually, with a clear-all.
- **[MOBILE]** Rename RSS feeds and move them between categories. Substack, YouTube channel and Reddit URLs all work as feed sources.

**Sharing and capture**

- **[MOBILE]** Share plain text from another app, not only links. It saves to a "Saved from Mobile" source.
- **[ANDROID]** A native share sheet replaces the old flow, so sharing repeatedly no longer fails.
- **[iOS]** If a shared link can't be fetched, the text is saved instead of the share failing.
- **[EXTENSION]** Add notes to web highlights, a redesigned Kindle import card, and a clearer message when you aren't signed in to Amazon.
- **[EXTENSION]** The Firefox extension is now up to date with Chrome and has the same features.
- **[MAC]** Desktop app updated to 1.2.4.

**Platform support**

- **[iOS]** The app now requires iOS 16.4 or newer. On iOS 15 it keeps working but no longer receives updates.

## Bugfixes

- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where Kindle imports could fail for some users whose device language wasn't English, caused by localized date formats.
- **[EXTENSION]** Fixed an issue where the book you're currently reading could stop picking up new highlights during a sync.
- **[EXTENSION]** Fixed an issue where a Kindle sync that didn't complete was recorded as successful with nothing imported. Failures are now reported, retried once, and a partial failure no longer causes later syncs to skip books.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where daily highlight emails were skipping days for some users.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where the review link in an email could sign you out or lead to a missing page. It now opens the correct highlights, including from older emails.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where some articles, mostly short ones, were saved with the wrong content.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where restoring a purchase or switching accounts on the same device could leave a subscription on the previous account.
- **[ALL]** Fixed an issue where newsletter and podcast titles containing accented or special characters didn't display correctly.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where tags and favorites could revert each other during a review, and where a quick press of "F" didn't register.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where the final card in a review session wasn't submitted.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where a review session didn't resume after the app closed partway through, and showed an empty screen instead of a retry option.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where a highlight that couldn't be saved immediately was lost. It's now queued and saved later, and a delete that doesn't complete restores the highlight.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where short articles were marked as read as soon as they were opened.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where a search that didn't complete showed "No results" instead of an option to retry.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where renaming or deleting a tag left the previous one showing on other screens.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where highlighting a phrase that appears twice in an article marked the wrong occurrence.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where archiving from All or Favorites removed the item from the list instead of updating its status.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where highlights saved offline could be duplicated or skipped.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed an issue where saving a podcast clip left the button unavailable for several seconds.
- **[MOBILE]** Fixed several layout issues, including the podcast header overlapping the status bar and a missing back button in the player.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where line breaks in highlights and notes were collapsed.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where Apple Books imports displayed 0% while running.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where turning pages in an EPUB was slow, worst in Safari, and where scrolling over a PDF could zoom unintentionally.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where your position in a book wasn't saved when closing the tab.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where dark styling appeared in the light theme for users whose system is set to dark.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where some Spanish text appeared in the English interface.
- **[WEB]** Fixed an issue where the integrations page didn't open from a direct link.

As always, if something is broken or missing, tell me.

Happy reading ✌️
