# Tags and Organization

> How to create, manage, and use tags to organize your highlights and articles

## Creating Tags

1. Go to the **Tags** page in the web app
2. Click "New Tag"
3. Enter a tag name
4. Choose a color. 18 preset colors are available, plus custom hex color support.
5. Save

Tags are shared across your highlights and articles.

## Applying Tags to Highlights

There are several ways to tag highlights:

- **From a highlight card**: Click/tap the tag option on any highlight and select tags
- **During import**: Some import methods allow you to assign tags as you import
- **AI suggestions**: Open a highlight, select "Suggest Tags", and Screvi's AI recommends relevant tags from your existing tags based on the highlight's content
- **Bulk tagging**: Select multiple highlights and apply tags in bulk

## Applying Tags to Articles

From any article detail view, use the tag option to add or remove tags.

## Filtering by Tag

Tags work as filters throughout Screvi:

- **Feed**: Filter to show only highlights with specific tags
- **Highlights page**: Use the tag filter dropdown
- **Articles page**: Filter articles by tag
- **Search**: Narrow search results to specific tags

## Managing Tags

From the Tags page, you can:

- **Edit** a tag's name or color
- **Delete** a tag (highlights and articles keep their other tags)
- **Search** through your tags
- **Sort** tags alphabetically or by count
- **View statistics**: each tag shows how many highlights and articles it's applied to

## Tips

- Use tags for broad themes (e.g., "Psychology", "Business", "Personal Growth") rather than per-book tags
- Let AI suggest tags to discover patterns in your reading
- Use tag filters in the feed to create focused reading sessions on a specific topic
