Getting Started

What is Screvi?

Think of Screvi as your digital commonplace book: it lets you collect the best ideas and insights you find, and gives you smart tools to help you remember and use them when it matters.

What devices can I use Screvi on?

Screvi is available on all major platforms. Access it through web browsers on any computer, the iOS app for iPhone and iPad, and the Android app for phones and tablets. Your data syncs automatically across all devices, so you can switch between them.

How do I use Screvi if I don't have that many highlights yet?

The iOS app has an Explore section where you can find recommended books and highlights. This is a great way to discover valuable content and start building your knowledge library, even before you have many highlights of your own.

How do I organize my highlights?

The beauty of Screvi is that you don't need to spend time organizing - the semantic search takes care of finding relevant highlights automatically. If you want, you can add tags to your highlights, but it's completely optional. The focus is on making it easy to find the highlights you need through search, rather than manual organization.

Importing & Exporting

How do I import my Kindle highlights?

Install the Screvi browser extension, open read.amazon.com/notebook, and import everything in one click. You can also upload the My Clippings.txt file from your Kindle, which works for sideloaded books too. The Kindle sync guide covers both methods step by step.

Where are my Kindle highlights stored?

Amazon keeps your highlights at read.amazon.com/notebook, but only for books bought from the Kindle store, and only while they stay in your library. Highlights from sideloaded books exist only in the My Clippings.txt file on your device. Importing them into Screvi gives you a permanent copy you control. Read more about accessing your Kindle highlights online.

Can I export my highlights out of Screvi?

Yes, you can export your entire library at any time in HTML or Markdown format. There is no lock-in. See the export formats guide for details.

Can I sync my highlights to Notion or Obsidian?

Yes. Screvi syncs your highlights to Notion automatically, and you can bring them into your Obsidian vault as Markdown files. See the Notion sync guide and the Obsidian guide.

Can I switch from Readwise to Screvi?

Yes. Export your data from Readwise as a CSV file and upload it to Screvi: books, articles, highlights, notes, and tags all come along. The Readwise import guide walks you through it, and our Readwise comparison explains how Screvi differs.

Browser Extension

What does the Chrome extension do?

The Screvi Chrome extension helps you save content while browsing. You can import Kindle highlights directly from Amazon, save Twitter bookmarks, highlight text from web articles, and save YouTube timestamps. The extension syncs everything automatically with your Screvi account.

How do I use the Chrome extension?

After installing the extension from the Chrome Web Store, sign in with your Screvi account. You can then highlight text on any webpage by selecting it, save YouTube timestamps while watching videos, and import your Kindle highlights when visiting your Amazon Kindle notes page. All saved content syncs automatically to your Screvi library.

Do I need a subscription to use the extension?

Yes, an active Screvi subscription is required to use the Chrome extension. This ensures all your highlights and saved content sync properly with your account and can be analyzed by the AI features.
