Why Spaced Repetition

You remember something for longer each time you meet it again just before you would have forgotten it. Spaced repetition schedules those meetings. Highlights you know well come back rarely; ones you want to sit with come back sooner.

Screvi uses a modified SM-2 algorithm, the family Anki uses, simplified so a review takes seconds instead of a grading decision.

Before You Start

Review unlocks at 3 sources and 20 highlights. Below that, there is not enough material for the schedule to mean anything. Import a book or two and it turns on by itself.

Reviewing on the Web

1. Open Review and click Start Daily Review.
2. Read the highlight. Then choose:
   • More: show this one more often
   • Less: I know this, show it less often
   • Favorite: star it (this does not change its schedule)
   • Discard: never show this in review again
3. Move on with Next. Finish the deck and Screvi shows your streak.

Reviewing on Mobile

Open the Review tab. Swipe through the cards or use the buttons underneath for the same four actions. The app prompts you at your chosen frequency if push notifications are on.

How the Schedule Works

Each highlight carries an ease factor that sets how long until it comes back.

• Less raises the ease factor, so the gap grows
• More lowers it, so the gap shrinks
• Highlights you have never reviewed are mixed in at random so new material keeps flowing

Over months, the highlights you know fade into the background and your daily deck fills with the ones that still need work.

Custom Review

Under Review > Custom review you can build a session on demand:

• Search by Topic: type a theme and review the highlights that match it
• Filter Highlights: pick sources, tags, or content types
• Suggested topics: themes Screvi found across your library with Topic Discovery

Custom sessions still update each highlight's schedule.
