Save YouTube Videos with Transcripts

How It Works

Save a YouTube video and Screvi fetches its transcript. You get the video player and the transcript side by side inside Screvi. Select any passage in the transcript to highlight it, and the timestamp stays attached so you can jump back to that moment later.

Save from YouTube

With the browser extension installed, every video page gets an Open in Screvi button next to Like and Share. Click it. Screvi saves the video and opens it in your library.

Save by Link

Copy the video URL.
In Screvi, go to Articles > Add article and paste it.

On your phone, tap Share on the video in the YouTube app and choose Screvi.

Watch and Highlight

Open the video from your Articles inbox. The player sits above the transcript. Each transcript line shows its timestamp, and clicking a timestamp seeks the video to that point.

Select text in the transcript to highlight it. Highlights from videos show up in your feed, search, and review sessions like any other highlight, with the timestamp preserved.

Frequently Asked Questions

The video saved without a transcript.

Screvi relies on the captions YouTube has for the video. Videos with captions disabled, and some very new uploads, have no transcript to fetch. Try again later for new videos.

Can I save Shorts?

Shorts rarely have usable transcripts. You can save the link, but there may be nothing to highlight.

Does Screvi download the video?

No. The video streams from YouTube inside Screvi's player. Only the transcript and metadata are stored.
