What It Fixes

Highlights that arrive from Kindle exports, PDFs, and scanned pages often carry formatting damage:

  • Line breaks in the middle of sentences
  • Double spaces and odd spacing around punctuation
  • Hyphens left over from line wrapping
  • OCR mistakes such as rn read as m

Clean up text fixes these without changing what the passage says.

How to Use It

  1. Open a highlight's menu (from the feed, a source page, or the article reader) and choose Clean up text.
  2. Screvi's AI produces a cleaned version and shows the Changes tab: every changed word is marked, so you can see exactly what moved.
  3. Switch to Original or Clean to read either version in full.
  4. Click Save cleaned text to keep it, or Close to leave the highlight as it was.

What Stays the Same

The cleanup only touches formatting. It does not paraphrase, shorten, or "improve" your highlight. If the diff shows a change in meaning, close the modal and keep the original.

Screvi also keeps the original text behind the scenes and uses it for duplicate detection, so re-importing the same book later does not create a second copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I clean up many highlights at once?

Not yet. Cleanup runs one highlight at a time so you can check each diff.

Does it work in languages other than English?

Yes. It handles most widely spoken languages, since it is fixing structure rather than rewriting.
