Complete guide to the Screvi Chrome and Firefox browser extension
Overview
The Screvi browser extension lets you save articles, highlight text, import Kindle highlights, and import Twitter/X bookmarks, all from your browser.
Available for:
- Chrome
- Firefox (available on Firefox Add-ons)
Connecting Your Account
- Install the extension
- Visit app.screvi.com/login and log in
- The extension connects automatically. Your API key is sent to the extension securely.
Click the extension icon to verify you're connected (shows your email and subscription status).
Saving Articles
Click the extension icon on any web page to save it as an article in Screvi.
- A toast notification confirms the save
- If the page has too little content, a "Save with HTML" fallback captures the full page
- After saving, you can assign tags directly from the notification
Highlighting Text
- Select text on any web page
- Right-click and choose "Save to Screvi"
- The text is visually highlighted on the page (yellow background)
- The highlight is saved to your library, linked to the article
If the article doesn't exist yet, it's created automatically.
Kindle Import
See the Kindle Import guide for detailed instructions. In short:
- Go to read.amazon.com/notebook
- The Screvi import panel appears
- Click "Import Highlights"
- Enable background sync for automatic daily imports (every 24 hours)
Supports 7 Amazon regions (US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil).
Twitter/X Bookmarks Import
See the X Bookmarks guide for details. In short:
- Go to x.com/i/bookmarks
- The import overlay appears
- Click "Start Import"
YouTube Integration
An "Open in Screvi" button is added to YouTube video pages (next to Like/Share). Clicking it saves the video with its full transcript to your Screvi library.
Troubleshooting
Extension shows "Not connected":
- Visit app.screvi.com/login and log in
- Make sure the extension is enabled in browser settings
Extension icon doesn't respond:
- Try removing and reinstalling the extension
- Check that your subscription is active
