Sync Highlights to Obsidian

How to sync your Screvi highlights to an Obsidian vault with the official Screvi plugin

Overview

The official Screvi plugin for Obsidian syncs your highlights into your local Obsidian vault. Use Screvi to collect and review highlights from Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, web articles, PDFs, newsletters, YouTube, and physical books, then bring the highlights you want into Obsidian for writing and connected notes.

Install the Plugin

You can install the plugin in either of these ways:

  1. Visit the Screvi plugin page in the Obsidian community plugin store.
  2. Or open Obsidian and go to Settings > Community plugins > Browse, then search for Screvi.

After installing, enable the plugin from your Obsidian community plugins list.

Connect Screvi

  1. In Screvi, open your account or integration settings and create or copy your API key.
  2. In Obsidian, open the Screvi plugin settings.
  3. Paste your Screvi API key.
  4. Choose where synced highlight files should be saved in your vault.
  5. Run the sync from the plugin.

What Gets Synced

The plugin syncs your highlights as Markdown files in your vault. Synced notes include the highlight text, source information, notes, and tags where available.

When to Use This

Use Screvi for capture, review, semantic search, and spaced repetition. Use Obsidian for connecting ideas, writing, backlinks, maps of content, and long-term thinking.

Troubleshooting

If the plugin does not appear in Obsidian, make sure community plugins are enabled and search for Screvi in the community plugin browser. If sync fails, check that your API key is current and that the destination folder exists in your vault.
