Sync Highlights to Obsidian

Screvi Collects, Obsidian Connects

Use Screvi to capture and review highlights from Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, articles, PDFs, newsletters, YouTube, and paper books. Use Obsidian to link those ideas into your own notes. The official plugin moves highlights from one to the other as Markdown files in your vault.

Install the Plugin

Either:

Open the Screvi plugin page in the Obsidian community plugin store, or
In Obsidian, go to Settings > Community plugins > Browse and search for Screvi.

Install it, then enable it in your Community plugins list.

Connect Your Account

In the Screvi web app, go to Settings > API and copy your API key.
In Obsidian, open Settings > Screvi and paste the key.
Choose the folder in your vault where synced notes should go.
Run the sync from the plugin's ribbon icon or command palette.

What You Get

One Markdown note per source, containing each highlight with your note and tags underneath, plus the title, author, and link back to the source. Re-running the sync adds new highlights without duplicating old ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit the synced notes?

Yes, but keep in mind that a future sync may rewrite the highlight blocks. Put your own thinking in separate notes and link to the highlight notes, which is the Obsidian way anyway.

Does the sync go both ways?

No. Highlights flow from Screvi to Obsidian. Edits in Obsidian do not change Screvi.

The plugin is not showing up.

Make sure Community plugins are enabled in Obsidian (they are off in restricted mode). If a sync fails, check that your API key is current and that the target folder exists.
